PvP in V Rising: Everything you need to know

PvP in V Rising is more than intimidating. While you have plenty of different PvP options to choose from, from hardcore full-loot PvP to standard four-player PvP servers, surviving against other vampires is even harder than taking on the environment.

Fighting other vampires is one thing, but figuring out how best to defend your castle from raids or go on a raid yourself is quite another. Having a good time on a busy PvP server can be tricky, so here are all the basics you need to succeed in V Rising PvP.

How to raid castles in V Rising

If you plan to go on the offensive and break into another player’s castle, you will need to carefully plan the battle. First of all, before you go on your first raid, you need to consider what type of castle you want to besiege.

Use explosives to breach the palisades

All types of fortress walls have a significant amount of health that needs to be breached before you can infiltrate another player’s base, but by far the weakest wall is the wooden palisade. It usually takes at least five explosive devices to destroy a Palisade wall at full health if it hasn’t already fallen into disrepair.

Generally, castles built mostly from Palisade walls are owned by new players on the server, so unless you have a lot of resources lying around, it’s best to think twice before spending all those explosives to get inside. There is a chance the new player won’t have loot to make them raid worthy.

You will receive the recipe for explosives after defeating Clive the Firebreather, and you can make explosives at the alchemy table, which is also unlocked after defeating the V Bloodbearer.

Use siege golems to break through the fortress walls

To break into a castle with fortified walls, you need to build a siege golem. These are huge stone giants that can be controlled to destroy strong enemy walls for a certain amount of time.

To use a siege golem, you first need to learn the recipe for a siege golem stone. It is unlocked by harvesting the blood of Terah Geomancer, another Blood Carrier V. In order to get the recipe and gem cutting table, you will need to craft one of them.

To create a siege golem stone, you will need:

  • 12 large blood essence
  • 16 biscuit stones
  • 200 gemstone dust
  • 200 stone bricks

Once you place a Siege Stone and activate it, you can use it to transform into a Siege Golem for 300 seconds. In addition to several new attacks, with enough effort, you can now destroy the fortified walls of the castle. However, as soon as you use a siege golem stone, the entire server will receive a notification that the siege golem has been activated.

Note: Fortified fortress walls can be destroyed with explosives, but it will take quite a lot of it to destroy one wall.

Using keys to capture or destroy locks

When the castle walls are destroyed, you can freely roam all available areas of the player’s castle. Any loot that falls into your hands is fair game, but you won’t be able to access the loot in the vampire castle unless you destroy or capture the heart of the castle.

Note: Keys can only be used on servers where it is allowed to destroy and/or capture enemy castles, that is, on PVP servers with full loot.

If you find the Heart of the Lock, you can insert the Lock Key of the appropriate level to completely destroy the lock. You can also use the three lock keys to take control of the lock.

Bone Lock Key Can capture/destroy level 1 locks. Copper Lock Key You can capture/destroy level 2 locks. Iron Lock Key You can capture/destroy level 3 locks. Bloody Castle Key You can capture/destroy level 4 castles.

The key blueprint for the Castle of Blood can only be obtained by defeating the biggest boss in V Rising, Solarus the Immaculate.

General Tips for Raiding Castles

  • Stock up on health potions before starting a raid
  • Destroy player coffins first if possible
  • Using the toad or bat form will help you reach castles built on high ground
  • Use wolf or rat form to run away from combat if the fight turns against you

How to protect your castle in V Rising

There is nothing more devastating than re-entering a V Rising game and discovering that your castle, coffins and loot are gone. After all, if you’re not very active or can’t get online in time to stop a raid on your castle, there’s not much you can do to protect yourself.

However, there are some precautions you can take to ensure your castle is best protected if you are not around to protect it.

Build your castle on high ground

Choosing the right place to build a castle is crucial when playing on a PvP server. In general, you should look for any elevated terrain with a large building area.

Placing walls around the edge of a piece of high ground narrows down the number of places enemies can attack from. You’ll also want to place ladders and doors on the ramps leading up to your castle to create a crater that enemies must overcome before entering your castle.

When you start a new game on a PvP server, the priority is not only to expand the borders, but also to unlock the recipes and stations needed to strengthen the fortress walls. The strong castle walls are your first line of defense.

Build traps and obstacles

Once you have the materials you need, put in the effort to create a labyrinth of rooms leading from your castle doors to the very heart of it – this is a great way to scare off enemy players.

As a siege golem, players only have 300 seconds to “break the walls” of your castle. Therefore, the more walls and doors will stand between them and your prey, the more likely it is to disrupt the raid.

You can also create “trap rooms” that enemy players will fall into towards the front of your castle to slow their progress. Placing a cluster of servant coffins behind a servant castle room or a tomb in a room filled with banshees and other undead is a fantastic deterrent for raiders.

Divide the booty

It is very tempting to design the interior of your castle in a way that makes crafting more comfortable. However, if all your chests are easily accessible to you, then you will make them available to raiders as well.

Try to split the loot into different sealed rooms, placing the most valuable loot in containers at the back of the castle if possible. If you manage to make your castle hard to pick, then at least you can hope the raiders don’t take all of your most valuable resources.
