How to make iron bars in Farthest Frontier

As their cities expand in Farthest Frontier, players will eventually find that they need some iron. However, the way to obtain this important resource may not be immediately obvious, and some fans may get stuck trying to create buildings that require it. For those players who are trying to earn iron in Farthest Frontier, this guide will help in this matter.

How to get iron

Players who are trying to get iron in Farthest Frontier should start by looking for an iron ore deposit. These deposits are marked with an icon depicting a piece of silvery material, and fans of city building games are advised to make sure that there are such deposits nearby. Notably, iron ore deposits often spawn near mountains, so hobbyists may need to use the Flatten Terrain feature before proceeding to the next step.

After discovering an iron ore deposit, players must use the iron mine to extract the resource. This building can be built on a suitable deposit after the city center has been upgraded to level 2 and the wagon shop has been built, and requires wooden planks. Notably, the buildings that are a prerequisite for building the Iron Mine are also needed to build the Clay Pit in Farthest Frontier, giving players an extra incentive to build them.

After the player has started collecting iron ore, they must proceed to upgrade their city center to level 3. This is a fairly serious undertaking, with numerous conditions and high costs, and it may take some time for fans of the survival game to complete the upgrade. When the player finally builds their city center to level 3, they will find that they can build a foundry under the Resources tab in the Buildings section, and this is the building that is used to process iron ore into iron.

It should be noted that the construction of the Foundry requires one Heavy Tool – an item that sometimes appears among the Trader’s offers. Therefore, players are advised to build a Trading Post as early as possible and check for Heavy Tools every time the Trader comes to visit. What’s more, strategy game fans are advised to get some heavy tools if possible, as they are also used in building windmills, forges, and more.
