Guide to titles and reputation in Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires

In Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires, each character has a title. They affect a lot of what you can do in Conquest, and unlocking titles is a great way to get stronger with the benefits they provide.

Unlocking titles is a simple process that is tied to your character’s reputation. These are six points associated with six different values ‚Äč‚Äčthat reflect your character’s actions so far in the conquest mode. The title and reputation systems are closely linked in Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires, so knowing the ins and outs of both systems is key to mastering the game.

Reputation Overview

In most game menus, the six reputations are represented only by small white icons. These include:

  • Brave: depicted with a sword;
  • Commander: represented by the flag;
  • Resourceful: represented by a fan;
  • Eloquent: represented by paper;
  • Benevolent: represented by sparks around the head;
  • Evil: represented by lightning around the head.

You will improve them gradually by making different choices in the Conquest mode. This includes the diplomatic, military, and trade decisions you can make to develop your kingdom, the secret plans you choose before a battle, and even interacting with officers while walking.

As your points grow, you will increase the level of your reputation. The maximum level of each reputation is 10, and increasing them is the key to unlocking new titles.

How reputation affects character interaction

During the walk, you can communicate with officers across the country. Also, you can try to recruit unaffiliated officers. The success of these interactions depends on the level of your reputation. Each officer in the game has two reputations that he likes and two reputations that he does not like. You can see what reputation a character likes and dislikes when you select them to talk to while walking. Reputations will be marked with blue up arrows if they like it, and red down arrows if they don’t like it.

As a result, your Reputation level affects two things: how deep your relationship with the character deepens when you choose the Interact action, and the chance that the character will agree to be recruited.

The formulas are given below, where the “Dislike” and “Like” reputations are simply the sum of the levels of the respective reputations:

  • Relationship Bonus = (((Unfriendly Reputations) / 2) x -1) + (Reputations Liked) + 3;
  • Recruitment Chance = (Unfriendly Reputations x -1) + (Reputations Liked x 2).

Note: You will also receive a recruitment chance bonus based on your relationship level with the character, so you don’t have to rely solely on your reputation level. You can keep interacting with them to get closer.

Titles Overview

Titles are earned by increasing your character’s reputation level, and they come in several varieties:

  • Ordinary titles;
  • Rare titles;
  • Legendary titles;
  • epic titles.

There is only one general title – Officer. This title does not grant reputation bonuses or chances of obtaining Uncommon, Rare, or Legendary Secret Plans. It only serves as a starting title for the Conquest mode.

On the other hand, rarer ranks have different Secret Plans gain rates, affecting which personal Secret Plans you can receive as a reward at the end of the battle.

Name Rarity Common Drops Uncommon Items Legendary Items Epic Rewards Rare 50% 50% n\a n\a Legendary 40% 40% 20% n\a Epic 20% 30% 30% 20%

Your title will also come with reputation bonuses. These are positive or negative modifiers attached to each of the six reputations that affect how much reputation you gain from certain actions.

To illustrate this, take the Great Training military action:

  • Without any modifiers, it will increase your Courage by 15;
  • If you have the Mighty Officer rank, it will increase your Bravery score by 22 due to a 50% bonus to Bravery Growth;
  • If you have the rank of Sage, it will increase your Bravery by 11 due to a -25% penalty to Bravery Growth.

Knowing this, you will be able to manage your titles and actions when you get enough of them to effectively increase your reputation.

The latest things that come with the new titles are unique political actions, new secret plans, and new military units. To use unique political actions, you must unlock the title in the current conquest mode, but secret plans and military units are unlocked in the game forever once you unlock them.

When you unlock a new level title, you will also have more action points to use while walking. Without rare titles, you will have three actions per walk, and after unlocking any epic title, up to six actions per walk.
